  • Describe the differences between Management 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0;
  • Apply the correct management style depending on the context of the team or organization;
  • Describe the six views of Management 3.0 and what their focus area is;
  • Explain the ideas of the Management 3.0 principles.

FOUNDATION – COMPLEXITY THINKING

  • Use the eight complexity thinking guidelines to deal with the complexity of organizations;
  • Explain why using reductionism will create problems in a complex organization;

ENERGIZE PEOPLE – MOTIVATION AND ENGAGEMENT

  • Explain why you can’t motivate people but can create a system where people can be motivated.
  • List and explain the motivators of the CHAMPFROGS model: Curiosity, Honor, Acceptance, Mastery, Power, Freedom, Relatedness, Order, Goal, and Status.
  • Use the moving motivator cards with individuals or teams to learn what motivates people in a business context.
  • Facilitate a session to identify different activities related to the motivators to create a system for people to motivate themselves.

EMPOWER TEAMS – DELEGATION AND EMPOWERMENT

  • Explain the benefits of empowering a team.
  • List the seven levels of delegation and be able to explain every level.
  • Create a delegation board and facilitate a session to decide the delegation levels.

ALIGN CONSTRAINTS – VALUES AND CULTURE

  • Describe the difference between enacted and espoused values.
  • Explain the importance of having clear values in a team or organization.
  • Be able to identify and verify the values of a team to help the team grow.

DEVELOP COMPETENCE – LEARNING AND COMPETENCIES

  • Use the Team Competence Matrix to gain insights into the team’s current skills and the skills required to create value.
  • Be able to talk about what is needed to have individual people develop skills.
  • Explain how communication can increase learning in a team environment.
  • Describe several activities that are related to learning in a group or pair learning.
  • Being able to explain that diversity in a team helps to learn but is also a risk and that a team needs different roles to learn.

GROW STRUCTURE – SCALING ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

  • Choose a hierarchical or network organizational structure based on the organization’s needs.
  • Describe the organizational patterns and have a plan to implement one pattern.
  • Use the Meddler game to visualize an organizational structure. 

IMPROVE EVERYTHING – CHANGE MANAGEMENT

  • Explain that people don’t resist change but are against being changed without being involved or in control.
  • Be able to define actions to support a change using the celebration grid.
  • Use the Change Management Game to review a change and facilitate play sessions to support organizational change initiatives.
